01 / Who it is for

Who it is for.

For anyone who teaches, coaches or creates and has people who are interested and haven’t decided: parents who said “maybe next term”, followers who asked “when’s the next group?”, clients who said “after the holidays”.

They like what you do, they know the price, the link works, and nothing on any particular day asks them to decide, so the decision waits. This guide builds one opening around a date that exists without you: a term start, an exam, a group you’ve booked the room for. You tell the people who already said they were interested, hold the close, and count what happened at each step.

02 / The method6 steps

The sitting, step by step.

About two and a half hours.

  1. 01

    Write your before.

How many people are interested, how many you think will pay, where you think they’ll stop, and what you’ll do if it closes with fewer than you hoped.

    5 minutes
  2. 02

Find a real date and test it four ways.

Would it exist if you sold nothing? Is it written somewhere other than your sales message? Can you say why it’s the date in one sentence? Will you keep it if one person buys, or nobody?

  3. 03

Set the open, the close and the places.

A close with its time, and a number of places only when your capacity really sets one, with the reason in a sentence.

  4. 04

    Write the opening note.

Who it’s for, what’s included, the dates and the price, in under a hundred words you’d say out loud.

  5. 05

    List everyone to tell.

Each “not now”, each “come back on” date, each person who asked to hear about the next one.

  6. 06

    Plan the sequence.

One message to each person on your list, and three or four public posts across the whole opening.

Then, while it’s open.

Open day
One message to each person, by hand, in the channel they last used, and the opening posted where people find you.
Each day it’s open
About ten minutes to answer replies and keep the count.
At the close
The route goes off at the time you said, you post that it’s closed, and it stays closed.
The day after
You read the count and check your own work.
03 / The result

You finish with a count.

A real date with one sentence on why it’s real, a close you held, and a count at each step: messages sent, replies, people who reached the link, payments. Here’s an illustrative one.

Illustrative exampleSofia is an invented piano teacher, and her numbers are invented too.

Her date: “Spring term starts Monday 11 January. I send the term timetable to every family on 12 December, and once it’s sent the slots are set until Easter.”

Her opening: Booking opens Monday 23 November and closes Friday 11 December at 6pm. Four places, because four weekly slots are all she has free next term.

Her count: 14 messages sent, 9 responded, 6 reached the booking page, 2 paid.

Sofia had guessed the price would put parents off. Six families reached the booking page with the price already in her message, and four of them stopped there. The count told her where most people stopped. Why they stopped is the next question, and the guide’s last page says how to find out.

Two days after the close, a parent asked for the Thursday slot. Sofia said spring had closed with the timetable, and offered to message on 8 March, when summer booking opens.

04 / What’s insideGuide (PDF) and opening sheet

What’s inside.

The guide (PDF)
The four date questions, where real dates come from in person and online, how to set places honestly, the opening note with three more worked notes, who goes on your list and who stays off, message frames for each kind of person, replies to the questions a date brings (can you hold a place, is there an early-bird price, are there really only four places, can I join after it closes), platform rules in plain words, and a check of your own work.
The opening sheet (Excel file)
Open it in Excel or Numbers, or upload it to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. Tabs for your date check, your list, your sequence and your count, plus a filled example. The Count tab adds up each step, names the step where most of your list stopped, and writes a count sentence for you to put beside your own. Paper works too.
A last page
It says what’s left once you have the numbers, and how to do each next step yourself.

How long it takes.

About two and a half hours for the sitting, with a list of 15 to 30 people. The opening then runs for one to three weeks, with about ten minutes a day, twenty minutes at the close and about half an hour the day after.

If the sitting runs out, stop once your date, your opening and your note are written. The list can wait for tomorrow.

05 / Fit

Who it won’t suit.

  • There’s no real date in the next three months, and you can’t commit to one.

Keep the guide for when there is one, or email us for the refund.

  • You’d like an early-bird price, a bonus that disappears at the close, or “only a few left” without a number.

The guide leaves all of these out, and gives you the replies for when people ask about them.

  • You’re after more people asking.

This works with the people who already said they were interested. With fewer than five on your list the opening still runs, though the count will be too small to read much from.

The names stay with you.

Your list lives on your sheet. The guide never asks you to send us anyone’s details or messages.

06 / After the first two guides

How it follows the first two guides.

It assumes two things are already in place: one offer line with its price and every real way to pay, and one route to payment that someone has tested by paying. If you did One Clear Way to Buy, you have both. If you did Everyone Who Asked, your “Come back on” column and every LATER reply are where your list starts, and a NEXT STEP sentence is the problem this guide was written for.

If you’ve done neither, the guide gives you the short version first: write the offer in one line with its price, make one link that goes straight to payment or booking, then buy it yourself from a fresh email address in your payment provider’s test mode and see what arrives. It takes an evening, and the rest of the guide works from there.

07 / A note from me

A note from me.

Most people who say “not now” mean it kindly. They like what you do and they know the price, and nothing on any particular day asks them to decide, so a month later it’s a nice idea they had once. A real date gives them that day.

It has to stay real all the way through, including the Monday after the close, when someone you like asks if they can still join. This guide is strict about that part. If you hold it, the next time you say a date, people believe it.

What it leads to.

A count that says where most people stopped. Why they stopped is specific to your business, and that is where a conversation with us starts.
